Pulsarr monitors Plex watchlists and automates content acquisition by routing matched items to Sonarr and Radarr. It provides real-time or scheduled polling of Plex, configurable routing rules, approval/quotas, and notification integrations for managing media requests across multiple instances and users.
Key Features
- Real-time Plex watchlist monitoring (instant for Plex Pass users; staggered polling for non-Pass users)
- Smart content routing rules using genre, user, language, year, certification, seasons, ratings, and streaming service filters
- Approval workflows with configurable user quotas (daily/weekly/monthly) and administrative controls
- Syncs Plex labels and Sonarr/Radarr tags with webhook-driven updates
- Multi-instance and multi-user support to distribute requests across multiple Sonarr/Radarr instances
- Discord bot integration for approvals and management, plus broad notifications via Apprise and webhooks
- Watchlist- or tag-based lifecycle management, automatic library refresh webhooks, and session-aware automation for next-season searches
- Built-in REST API with interactive documentation and analytics dashboards
Use Cases
- Automate requests from Plex watchlists to Sonarr and Radarr, applying policies before adding to download clients
- Manage family or shared-media requests with per-user quotas and approval workflows
- Integrate approval and notification flows into chat (Discord) or home automation systems via webhooks and Apprise
Limitations and Considerations
- Instant updates require Plex Pass; non-Plex-Pass setups rely on periodic polling which may introduce delays
- Webhooks used by Sonarr/Radarr must be reachable from those containers/hosts; network configuration is required for reliable webhooks
- Default SQLite is fine for small installs; PostgreSQL is recommended for larger or production deployments
- Project is an early-release product; features and integrations are actively evolving
Pulsarr is designed to simplify watchlist-driven media acquisition while giving administrators fine-grained control over routing and approvals. It focuses on Plex-to-Arr automation with extensible notifications and API access for integrations.
