SoFE is a small Python utility that integrates with Sonarr and Plex to exclude anime filler episodes from monitoring and to organize media into filler vs non-filler collections. It consumes episode data from Anime Filler List and drives Sonarr and Plex via their APIs.
Key Features
- Parses episode filler information from Anime Filler List and maps it to Sonarr series/episodes
- Updates Sonarr series monitoring to monitor only non-filler episodes (via Sonarr API)
- Creates Plex collections (separate filler and non-filler collections) based on download status and library mapping
- Packaged as a Docker container and configurable via environment variables for Sonarr/Plex endpoints and API tokens
- Lightweight Python implementation suitable for running on home servers or in Docker Compose setups
Use Cases
- Keep Sonarr from monitoring or downloading filler episodes for anime series
- Automatically organize Plex libraries into filler and non-filler collections for easier viewing
- Automate anime library maintenance by syncing filler metadata with Sonarr and Plex
Limitations and Considerations
- Accuracy depends on Anime Filler List data and correct selection of the anime identifier; mismatches may require manual correction
- Requires working Sonarr and Plex instances with valid API keys/tokens and appropriate series ID/library configuration
- Focused on anime filler workflows; not designed for non-anime media or to integrate with alternate download managers
SoFE is targeted at users who want automated, low-effort management of anime monitoring and Plex organization. It is intended as a simple integration tool that streamlines filler exclusion and collection creation for Sonarr + Plex environments.
